Abstract Section

7

Abstract words are limited to not more than three hundred (300) words. Conceptually structure the abstract into introduction, methods, key finding, conclusion/significance. However the Abstract should be written as a single paragraph without these headers. Avoid specialists abbreviations and citations in abstract.

8

Keywords: Provide at least five keywords which can be used for indexing purposes

9

Main text

10

The main text word limit is not more than seven thousand (7000) words.

11

Structure the main text into an Introduction, Materials and Methods, Results, Discussion and Conclusion

12

Placed all Tables and Figures within the main text where they should appear in the published form

13

Provide a Section on Declarations at the end of the main text before the Reference section:

(2)    Authors’ contributions (see example below)

(3)    Disclosure of conflict of interest

(4)    Disclosure of Funding source(s)

14

References citation in Manuscript: Two formats are acceptable by the editorial team. Parenthetical- surname of author and publication year appear in parenthesis. For instance, (Badaki, 2024). Narrative- the author appears in the running text and year of publication appears in parentheses immediately after the author’s name. See details below

15

Reference Listing: The listed references should be in alphabetical order without numbering following APA style containing the Surname and Initial of the authors, year of publication, title, full name of journal, volume(optional), and page number.  Two or more papers by the same author in the same year should be distinguished by a suffix (a, b, etc.) to the year of publication. The journal title must be written in full in the reference list. (see the example provided).

16

Use United Kingdom English (not US English) in writing your manuscript. Check your Word editor language

In Text Formating

  • Use only standard fonts: 12-point Times New Roman for text,
  • Symbol for Greek symbols, MathematicalPi2 for handwritten and gothic symbols.
  • Use tab stops or other commands for indents, not the space bar.
  • Do not end a line by pressing Enter unless this is the end of a paragraph.
  • Make full use of your text editor functions: creation of footnotes, enabling and disabling automatic hyphenation, list formatting, indents, etc. Do not use field functions. - Use the table function, not spreadsheets, to make tables. Avoid creating tables by hand using multiple spaces or tabs and containing no cells.
  • Use the International System of Units (SI) for physical quantities and units of measure, and IUPAC nomenclature for chemical compounds.
  • Use periods rather than commas in decimals (correct: 0.25, incorrect: 0,25).
  • Symbols *, ‘, ±, single Greek letters, single italic or boldface characters, single variables or variables with either superscript or subscript letters, units of measure, numbers, and simple mathematical or chemical formulas (e.g., a2 + b2 = c2 ; H2SO4) should be typeset as text rather than embedded objects. Do not use Equation, MathType or other tools.
  • Dates should be rendered in the following format: January 31, 2025.
  • Italicize scientific names, variables and physical quantities
  • Save your file in docx format (Word 2016 or higher versions)

Faculty of Science,

Federal University Lokoja.

Dear Ma,

SUBMISSION OF MANUSCRIPT FOR PUBLICATION

We are pleased to submit for your review and consideration for publication our original research/review/short communication titled: " Bioactivity of Anopheles Mosquito Exposed to Ocimum gratissimum Formulated Candles in the Confluence Journal of Pure and Applied Sciences (CJPAS). The study was designed to test the potential of candles formulated with extracts of Ocimum gratissimum; an abundant indigenous plant in repelling mosquitoes. The findings reported here show very promising efficacy of the plant based candles in repelling mosquitoes in the study area. We are hopeful that the findings would be interesting to readers of CJPAS and the scientific community. The manuscript has not been published nor would it be submitted for publication elsewhere if it is under consideration by CJPAS. We the authors declare no conflict of interest about this manuscript. All authors declared that they have participated in the study and concur with the submission and subsequent revisions of the manuscript.
